🌟 Year 1 – Discover Day: How Did They Do It?

Today, our Year 1 children became curious discoverers as they explored the different journeys people take in their lives and the important jobs they do to help others.

We started our morning by meeting Rev Helen, who shared her inspiring journey to becoming a priest. The children listened carefully, asked questions and discovered more about what inspired her and the steps she took along the way.

Later, we welcomed a paramedic and an ambulance to school! 🚑 The children had a fantastic opportunity to learn about the important work paramedics do and how they help people in emergencies. They explored the ambulance and found out about some of the equipment used to care for patients.

After that, we met a lollipop lady, who told us all about her important job helping children and families cross the road safely. The children discovered how she helps to keep her community safe and why her role is so important. 🦺🚸

Back in the classroom, the children completed their Discover Challenge, recording what they had learned and thinking about the question: “How did they do it?”

It has been a wonderful day of asking questions, discovering new things and learning from people who make a difference in our community! 🌟
