Emotional Health and Mental Wellbeing

Today we acknowledged ‘World Mental Health Awareness Day’. This is the powerpoint that classes discussed during worship and in classes.

Key Stage 2 had a really interesting and informative assembly led by ‘Mind’ to raise the awareness of emotional health and mental wellbeing. Pupils learnt how important it is to look after our mental health just like we look after our physical health. The importance of exercise, diet, sleep, spending time with friends and family, doing sports and hobbies to help them cope with emotions were shared. The pupils gave excellent responses and suggestions of what can help them cope when they feel upset, sad or under pressure. Pupils were reminded how having high levels of resilience can have a positive impact on having a healthy mind and how resilience helps them bounce back even at times when they feel under pressure. Advice on how they can help themselves and sources of support were shared with pupils. Years 4, 5 and 6 also participated in follow up workshops.
